BrainMaster Event Wizard Troubleshooting

The BrainMaster software should be playing a tone but it is not:
  • Are Event Sounds Checked?:  In order for a sound to be generated from an Event, two things must be done.  First, in the Event that you would like audio feedback to occur from have the type of auditory feedback selected in the Event Result section.  Next, you need to make sure that there is a checkmark for Events (Use Event Wizard to define).  If both of these are not checked, this will not properly function.
  • Make sure that your volume and speakers are on:  If everything through the BrainMaster software is properly configured, then be sure that everything through your PC and Windows are configured properly.  Be sure that if using external speakers, that they are on, and the volume is adjusted.  Make sure through the Windows Volume Mixer, that nothing is muted, and all volume levels can be heard.  Also, make sure that while doing this, that no other devices (headphones) are plugged in while doing this.
  • Check MIDI Sound Properties:  Even though Event conditions, as well as your setup are proper, this will not function properly if the MIDI Sounds Properties are not set to a audible volume.  This can be checked in the Event that you would like audio feedback to occur from in the MID Sound Properties on the Right-side of the Event Wizard.  After making any changes, be sure to confirm these changes.
  • Is the Event meeting the results?:  The final thing to make sure is that the training conditions are met for their required time frames, in order for an auditory reward to be obtained.  If this is not happening, no sound will occur.  This can be validated through an Event Trend Graph, or the Text Stats.

My Event is not producing a number.  It's saying "1#J"

  • Check your Thresholds:  1#J is commonly produced if someone attempts to divide by 0.  If you are dividing by a threshold (ie:  THETA/TTHR), make sure that you give a value to the threshold in the Training Protocol Menu of the BrainMaster Software.
  • Not dividing by a Threshold:  If you are not dividing by a threshold, but something else that you cannot control the starting out value.  You can resolve this by multiplying the divided by number by a very small number (ie:  If THETA/TTHR is producing 1#J, then you can fix this through the equation THETA/(TTHR * .0001)).
  • Make sure the software has been restarted:  Once 1#J has been produced, there is no way to get a different value until the software has been restarted.

BMrDVD* and BMrMMP* are not modulating with my Event:

  • Check the Event Result:  In order for BMrDVD* and BMrMMP* to modulate with an Event Wizard Event.  The Check Box, Control MMP in the Event Result must be check for all of the Events that you would like to control these programs.  If this is not checked, then they will not react to that Event.
  • Check the version of Software:  BMrDVD* and BMrMMP* will not modulate with an Event in the BrainMaster 2.5 software.  If you are doing this in the 2.5 software, it will not work.
  • It is modulating, but  it's not un-modulating:  Make sure is that the training conditions are met for their required time frames, for all events that this has been checked for, as well as all amplitude training in order for an reward to be obtained.  If this is not happening, no feedback will occur.  The more things that are required, the more difficult it will be for BMrDVD* or BMrMMP* to un-modulate.

BMr Flash Player is not modulating with my Event:

  • Check Event 5:  In order for the Flash player to react to training, the Event Wizard must have what actions that you want to control the Event Wizard in this Event.  For classic Amplitude training, Event 5 must be x=ALLOK;.  For Event based training, Event 5 must be x=EyF; where y is the Event number that you would like to control the Flash Player.  Flash Player can have multiple Events control the Flash Player.  For more instructions on this, please see the Event Wizard Manual attached to this article.
  • Event 5 has x=ALLOK, but it's not working right with App Boxes:  App Boxes is a little different than most Flash Player Games.  For App Boxes to operate there must be a low Inhibit control in Event 1, an Enhance control in Event 2, and a hi Inhibit control in Event 3.  All basic protocols have this built into them.  If you by any chance create your own, or change a band that the training is occurring on, then this will not operate as it should.  For proper functionality, Event 1 is x=LIn/LinTHR, Event 2 is x=En/EnTHR, and Event 3 is Hin/HinTHR, where Lin is the Lower Inhibit, En is the Enhance, and Hin is the High Inhibit.

For more information on the Flash Player, please see the Flash Player Manual attached.

For more information on the BMrMMP* Suite, please see the BMrMMP* Manual attached.

For more information on the Event Wizard, please see the Event Wizard Manuals attached.

*BMrMMP & BMrDVD are optional add-ons included with teh BMrMMP Suite.  To purchase, please contact BrainMaster Techologies at 440-232-6000.
