Dr. Collura of BrainMaster to teach principles of QEEG and Live Z-score training at 2009 BFE meeting in Einthoven, the Netherlands. Free workshop to follow with Drs. Collura and Klein.

Dr. Thomas F. Collura will be presenting at the 2009 Biofeedback Foundation of Europe meeting to be held February 24-28 in Einthoven, the Netherlands. On Thursday, February 26, he will present a talk as part of the Scientific Program, on the topic of Neuronal Dynamics in Relation to Z-Scores and Phenotypes. This talk will present a comprehensive view of the role of neuronal dynamics in the production of EEG rhythms, and in the application of EEG biofeedback using live z-scores to the achievement of brain self-regulation. Drawing from a consideration of the cellular basis of EEG and an understanding of neuronal functions, it is possible to view EEG and EEG operant training as a form of normalization training that emphasizes homeostasis, in an objective and scientifically driven approach towards integrated brain function. The use of a live database allows the system to analyze the trainee’s EEG in the context of whole-brain functioning, and provides a variety of targeting options. In addition, the use of z-scores as well as EEG phenotypes to recognize patterns of brain activity provides an integrated approach to neurofeedback . Case studies will be presented to illustrate effective normalization of brain activation as well as connectivity , resulting in clinically beneficial changes.

On March 1, there will be a free BrainMaster 1-day workshop presented at the Sandton Hotel, Stratumsedijk 23d 5611 Eindhoven, taught by Dr. Collura and Dr. Doerte Klein, from 9:00AM to 4:00PM. This workshop will cover practical aspects of Live Z-score (LZT) training, emphasizing the use of the BrainMaster Atlantis system. BrainMaster is the leader in Live Z-score training, having several years of development and publications in this area, and the most efficient 2 and 4-channel LZT systems in the industry. This workshop will also describe and demonstrate the use of the new BrainMaster Discovery 24-channel EEG system which provides whole-head EEG and QEEG capabilities for assessment and training. DC and Slow Cortical Potentials will also be described and demonstrated. For those attending the BFE, this one-day workshop will provide valuable additional training, and does not conflict with the regular BFE schedule.
