DVD player work on Vista without WinDVD or PowerDVD? |
|||||
In Windows Vista, you should NOT need to install WinDVD or PowerDVD. The built-in Vista DVD drivers should be sufficient for using the BrainMaster DVD player.
Note: With Vista, if you do not get the audio stream, a known solution is to install WinDVD 8 Platinum or Power DVD 7 Deluxe.
If you do not have a suitable DVD driver installed, you may see something like "2 out or 3 video streams unable to render". If you have a trial version of Power DVD, you may see "1 out of 3 video streams unable to render". Note: We do not recommend that users install trial versions of the DVD software as they will stop functioning upon expiration of trial. WinDVD8 Platinum is no longer distributed by Corel, but they will sell you a license to it if you get a copy. You can download the installer for WinDVD8 Platinum from: www.brainm.com/software/downloads/WinDVD8Platinum.exe The Power DVD installer can be downloaded from: www.brainm.com/software/downloads/CyberLink%208-20-08.exe

I have found that WinDVD 8 Platinum tends to work better on Vista machines than PowerDVD 7 Deluxe. |

We have seen that WinDVD9 Plus on a Vista machine produced no sound, but did not give an error message. |
